Ersle T. Ray, 89, of Astoria, died at 9:40 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, at the Astoria Healthcare Center.
She was born Aug. 14, 1909, in Astoria, a daughter of David and Bessie Prather Thomas. She married John Vincent “Tom” Ray on Dec. 25, 1928, in Rushville. He died March 23, 1986. Also preceding her in death were her parents; an infant daughter, Nancy; one sister, Estyl Foster; and two brothers, Louis and Curtis.
Surviving are two daughters, Norma Sue Lindsey of Astoria and Marianne Johnson of Rushville; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was a licensed practical nurse at the Mason District Hospital in Havana for several years and later at the Astoria Healthcare Center before retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church and the Astoria Senior Center.
Services were held Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. James Shirley officiating. Burial was in the Astoria Cemetery.
