Dennis Quillen

Dennis Wayne Quillen, 71, of Rushville died at 5:48 p.m. May 5, 2014, at his farm in Schuyler County.

He was born Sept. 14, 1942, in Rushville, a son of Wayne B. and Mary Eleanor Rexroat Quillen. He married Judy M. Ryan on Oct. 3, 1965, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Steve (and Terri) Quillen and Ryan Quillen, both of Rushville; one brother, Larry Quillen of Rushville; and one grandchild.

He graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1960.

He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving with the 183rd Fighter Wing, Illinois Air National Guard for nine years.

He worked at Bartlow Brothers Inc. in Rushville for 36 years, retiring from there in 1997. He was an active partner in Quillen Farms and Quillen Trucking.

He was a member of Rushville First United Methodist Church, Schuyler County Farm Bureau and Schuyler American Legion Post #4. He has been on the Schuyler County Fair Board since 1980 and was currently serving as vice president.

Services were held Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery with Military Honors by a U.S. Air Force Honors Detail and Schuyler American Legion Post #4.
