He was a son of LeRoy E. and Violet Jean Pilger Powell of Browning.
Surviving are his lifetime companion, Joyce Barnes of Champaign; four sisters, Lily (and Jack) Stambaugh and Brenda (and John) Stambaugh, both of Browning, Tammy McCoy of Ipava and Mary (and Kenny) Baker of Astoria; and one brother, LeRoy “Knute” Powell of Rushville.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Rosetta Francis Powell; and one brother, Alvie Thomas Powell.
He worked at Parkland College as a maintenance man and was honored several times for his excellent work and was loved by everyone.
A private burial will be planned at a later date in May. Williams Memorial Services in Champaign is in charge of arrangements.
