He was born March 26, 1970, in Rushville, a son of Leroy and Violet Jean Pilger Powell. He married Kathy Ransom on April 6, 1990, in Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Justin Lee Powell at home; two brothers, Andy Powell of Champaign and Leroy “Newt” Powell Jr. of Astoria; four sisters, Lily Powell and Brenda Powell, both of Browning, Tammy McCoy of Ipava and Mary Baker of Astoria.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Rosetta Powell.
He graduated from Astoria High School with the Class of 1988.
He worked at Rushville Hardees, NTN Bower in Macomb and Cargill Meat Solutions in Beardstown.
Services were held Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Greg Fish officiating. Burial was in Bader Cemetery.
