Stanley ParrStanley Dale Parr, 87, of Danville died May 13, 2016, at VA Iliana Healthcare System in Danville.

He was born June 26, 1928, in Summum, a son of Floyd Dale Parr and Mabel Peek. He married Gracie Louise Barton in Havana on Sept. 2, 1950. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Janine Wallace, S. Bruce (and Lisa) Parr, Floyd Dale (and Vicki) Parr II; brothers and sisters, Emily Ayoub, Juanita Jean (and Gene) Edwards, Thelma (and Frank) Taylor, Sandra (and Stoney) Stonecipher, Linda (and Keith) Tatro, Dale (and Cheryl) Parr, Sue Parr, Ronnie Parr and Connie Parr; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Bowon and Betty Coats.

He graduated from Astoria High in 1946. He was a member of the Illinois National Guard for six years and Active Duty U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952-53. He graduated from Cal State Northridge in 1964. He was the assistant controller at Northrup Corporation until he retired and purchased Royal Oak Motel in Santa Paula, Calif., in 1973, then Redwood Inn in Danville in 1978, that he operated until 1996.

A Celebration of Life was held Thursday, May 19, at the VA protestant Chapel in Danville with Miles Clark and Ron Ziemer officiating. Burial was in Danville National Cemetery.
