VeteranRoger Poppenhager

Roger D. Poppenhager, 73, of Browning died at 11:25 a.m. June 26, 2012, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born April 1, 1939, in Summum, a son of Wayne H. and Wanda Lee Howard Poppenhager.

Surviving are one son, Jim (and Trina) Poppenhager of Astoria; two daughters, Lynn Pedigo of Havana and Amy (and Tom) Ingles of Rushville; one brother, Jack (and Joan) Poppenhager of Canton; one special friend with whom he made his home, Nelda Grove of Browning; and six grandchildren.

He was an Army veteran.

He worked at International Harvester in Canton, Fiat-Allis Proving Grounds in Bluff City and retired from Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville. He was a lifelong welder.

He was a member of ABATE.

Military graveside services were held Saturday at Astoria Cemetery by Astoria American Legion Post #25. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
