RUSSELL L. PHILLIPS

Russell L. Phillips, 80, of Marietta, died at 9:04 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

He was born May 24, 1919, in Vermont, a son of Asa and Mollie Anno Phillips. He married Opal M. McCormick on Nov. 24, 1951, in Quincy. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, John, of Prairie City; two daughters, Marjorie (and Terry) Warner of Abingdon and Molly (and Barry) Van Pelt of Aurora; one sister, Lucille Kingery of Astoria; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

One brother and five sisters preceded him in death.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

He worked at Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg for 29 years before retiring.

He was a member of T.J. Pickett Masonic Lodge 307 in Bushnell.

Services were held Tuesday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell with Rev. John Carlson officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Bushnell Rescue Squad.
