Geffrey B. Parker, 41, of Champaign, died at 6:10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, at his home.
He was born Sept. 13, 1957, in Rushville, a son of Carroll and Nelda Schisler Parker.
Surviving are his parents of Astoria; three brothers, Rev. Greg Parker of Browning, Gerry Parker of Bath and Gale Parker of Astoria; a friend, Frank O’Connor of Champaign; four nieces, Jessica, Brittany, Natasha and Elizabeth; three nephews, Jason, Zachary and Dallas; and a host of friends.
He graduated from Astoria High School in 1975 and from the University of Illinois in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in biology, specializing in immunology. He was a hotel manager at the University Inn and Chancellor Inn, both in Champaign. He was a member of the Astoria Christian Church and the Champaign Kiwanis Club.
Memorial services were held this afternoon at the Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. Local services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Greg Parker officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.
