SHERMAN S. “SHY” PALMER

Sherman Palmer

Sherman S. “Shy” Palmer, 91, of Astoria, died at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 1997, at Astoria Healthcare Center.

He was born Aug. 22, 1905, in Browning, a son of Ross L. and Sarah Danner Palmer. He married Beulah Belville on April 14, 1923, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Eva Trone of Rushville, Glenna Parry of Astoria and Dora Fox of Beardstown; two sons, Larry D. Palmer of Catoosa, Okla., and Jerry L. Palmer of Forreston; 31 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.

Three sons, Victor, Richard and Allen, four brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death.

He was an auto mechanic at several businesses, including Lock’s and Cliff’s Auto Parts. He worked at Parry Bros. Sawmill and later was a self-employed auto mechanic. He attended Astoria Assembly of God Church.

Services were held Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home with Rev. Phillip Derry officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
