Long Time Astoria Barber Dies Monday

E. G. (Ted) Peterson, 73, a well known Astoria barber for about 50 years, died late Monday night in a Peoria hospital after a short illness. Mr. Peterson had operated his barber shop until ill health forced him to close a short time ago.

He was born June 21, 1888, in Battle Creek, Iowa, a son of Harvey and Abbie Gordon Peterson. On June 21, 1910, he was married to Miss Mae Danner, who survives. They had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last summer.

Other survivors include a son, Willard Peterson of Crete; a daughter, Mrs. Harriett Hall of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Hattie Bentley of Delmar, Iowa. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. this afternoon in the Astoria Church of the Brethren, of which he was a member. Rev. Galen Gerdes of the Woodland Church of the Brethren officiated. Burial was in the Woodland cemetery.
