Carroll Oliver

Carroll E. Oliver, 90, died June 15, 2023, in Mission, Texas. He was formerly of Canton.

He was born Aug. 25, 1933, the son of John S. and Alice Lutz Oliver from Vermont. He married Kathryn F. Burriss from Astoria on May 25, 1954. She died in October of 2012. Later in life, he married Leota Erickson who survives.

Also surviving are three children, Kevin (and Rita) Oliver, Kim Waddell and Keena (and Mike) Coffey; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He also has stepchildren, Luann (and Nick) Mangan, Kent Groves and Dianna (and Kirk) Johansson; five step grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.

He worked at Caterpillar and Rohn Towers for a short time. He then became a lifelong truck driver before retiring.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Woodland Cemetery in Astoria with Pastor Steve Saunders officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Astoria American Legion Post #25. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the graveside at the Canton American Legion, 550 South 4th Ave., Canton. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
