RUTH AILENE (BOHANNON) ONION

Ruth Onion

Ruth A. Onion, 86, of Summum, died at 5:50 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at Havana Health Care Center in Havana.

She was born Jan. 1, 1913, near Vermont, a daughter of James A. and Lucinda Stum Bohannon. She married John H. Onion on May 29, 1936, in Winnebago County. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, John of Summum and James of Harrisburg, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

During World War II, she was a nurse at Camp Ellis near Ipava. She then worked as a nurse at Graham Hospital in Canton and later worked in the O.B. and surgical departments at Mason District Hospital in Havana for 22 years. She was a member of Summum Christian Church.

Services were held Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Tim Worstell officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery.
