Clarence "Dusty" Norton Jr.Clarence “Dusty” Norton Jr., 72, of Rushville died at 7:30 p.m. July 26, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born May 31, 1944, in Spickard, Mo., a son of Clarence A. Norton Sr. and Mary L. Gott. He was married to Jan Daly Provost, Susan Ard and last to Elaine Fulcher Thornton.

Surviving are five daughters, Crystal Norton of Mount Sterling, Kimberly Brackett of Maine, Lynne Shelton and Suzy Hammond, both of Rushville, and Brenda King of Quincy; two sons, David Clough of New Hampshire and Tommy Thornton of Springfield; three brothers, George (and Shirley) Norton of Alamo, Texas, Danny (and Lou Ann) Norton of Rushville and Richard Norton of Jacksonville; one sister, Suzie (and Paul) Smith of Virginia; and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Rodney Clough.

He was a painter and carpenter who did odd jobs in and around Rushville for many years.

A memorial service was held Sunday at the home of his brother, Danny, at rural route Rushville. Another remembrance will be held at Rick and Rich’s Tap on Saturday, Aug. 6. Inurnment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, southeast of Rushville, at a later date. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
