Elaine NortonElaine Mae “Moc” Norton, 81, of Rushville died at 10:10 p.m. March 28, 2020, at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy.

She was born April 10, 1938, in Ithaca, N.Y., a daughter of Thomas Cassady and Mildred Belle Hausner Harris. She first married Billy Thornton and later Hank Fulscher. In 1983, she married Clarence “Pa” “Dusty” Norton.

Surviving are four children, Lynne Shelton and Brenda King, both of Quincy, Suzy (and Bob) Hammon of Rushville and Tom (and Johnna) Thornton of Springfield; one sister, Bonnie Raney of Temecula, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Terri Hamm.

A 1956 graduate of Ithaca High School, she served as an Airman 2nd Class with United States Air Force. She first worked at J.C. Penney in Rushville. She then worked for over 26 years at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in both the Dietary and Housekeeping departments. She later babysat in her home.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Littleton and was a big supporter of the Humane Society.

Due to the current health situation and directives by the Illinois Governor and CDC, a visitation to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the her church or the Schuyler Senior Center. The Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
