Wayne MyersWayne Myers, 81, of Rochester, Minn., died July 9, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born Sept. 20, 1944, in Canton, a son of Merlin and Wanda Myers. He married Beverley Applen on Oct. 20, 1973. Later divorced.

Surviving are one son, Brad (and Tammy) Myers; one daughter, Kendra (and Chris) Burshem; three brothers, Jerry, Jim (and Pat) Myers and Steve (and Sharon) Myers; three grandchildren; five bonus grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by infant brothers, Ralph and Russell Myers.

He was drafted into the Army on June 14, 1965, and served in the Special Forces as a Green Beret. He received the Parachute Badge and National Defense Service Metal. He attended Southern Illinois and received his two-year degree. He joined the IBEW Electrical Union as an Apprentice and later as a Journeyman Electrician. He was an electrician for 39 years before retiring on his 63rd birthday in 2007.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, with an hour of visitation prior at Maxon Family Cremation and Life Celebrations in Rochester, 1624 37th St., Rochester. Inurnment will follow the service at Grandview Memorial Gardens, 1300 Marion Road Southeast, Rochester.
