Herman MohlenbruckHerman Leslie Mohlenbruck, 89, of Frederick died at 5:16 a.m. March 27, 2020, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born June 9, 1930, a son of Fred Herman and Tilpha Florence Dodds Mohlenbruck in Bainbridge Township, Schuyler County. He married Audrey Fay Anderson on June 1, 1958, in Beardstown. She preceded him in death on May 29, 1988. He later married Shirley Hendricks Mathewson on April 20, 1990, in Ripley. She preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 2017.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Ila Weishaar and Etha Stambaugh; and one brother, Sam Mohlenbruck.

Surviving are one son, Rudy Mohlenbruck of Frederick; two stepsons, Tony (and Linda) Mathewson of Timewell and Rick Mathewson of Ripley; two daughters, Katy Murphy of Girard and Debra (and Ben) Tomhave of Springfield; one brother, Richard Mohlenbruck of Frederick; two sisters, Freida Walker of Rushville and Wilma Brown of Maquon; five grandchildren; several step grandchildren; and several great step grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Navy Seabee serving in the Korean War from Oct. 22, 1950, to July 22, 1954. His service in the Navy led to a career as a heavy equipment operator, retiring Dec. 31, 1992. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local Union 965 and attended Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.

He lived most all his life in Bainbridge Township acquiring a small farm where his father helped build the house and barn.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later date. The Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.

Herman Leslie Mohlenbruck, 89, of Frederick died at 5:16 a.m. March 27, 2020, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at Sugar Grove United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Messerer Cemetery, near Frederick. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.
