She was born Dec. 30, 1938, in Astoria, a daughter of Russell and Esther Kessler. She married Wallace Miller on Dec. 30, 1970, in Carrington, N.D. He survives.
Also surviving are her children, Lori Asleson and Donald Miller of Devils Lake, N.D., and Mavis and Brian Melton of Spooner, Wis.; two sisters, Elaine (and Dwayne) Yost and Margaret (and Luther) Fowler; one brother, Roger (and Jane) Kessler; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Miller; and two sisters, Verlena Driver and Pollyanna Pittman.
She graduated from Astoria High School in 1956 followed by attending two years at Manchester College in North Manchester, Ind., after which she had several bookkeeping jobs. During that time, she was a member of Woodland Church of the Brethren.
Despite Wallace and her handicaps from contracting polio during their teenage years, they lived and worked together diligently on Wallace’s family farm in North Dakota until their retirement and were active members of Kvernes Lutheran Church. Over the past two years, they transitioned into assisted living facility care due to Wallace’s progressive Alzheimer’s disease.
No services are planned. Spooner Funeral Home, 306 Rusk St., Spooner, WI 54801, is in charge of arrangements.
