ERIC “RICKY” MALOTT

Eric “Ricky” Malott

Eric "Ricky" MalottEric “Ricky” Malott, 59, of Astoria died at 4:14 a.m. Oct. 7, 2020, in East Peoria.

He was born June 13, 1961, in Canton, a son of Verl and Glenna Taylor Malott. They survive.

Also surviving are one brother, Rod Malott of Astoria; and two aunts and uncles, Lois and Richard Henderson of East Peoria and Ronald and Margaret Taylor of Liverpool.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mary and Chancey Malott; and maternal grandparents, Glenn and Helen Taylor.

He graduated from VIT High School in 1979. He grew up working on the family farm and had a genuine interest in farming. In his early years, he worked as a farmhand for Marshall Mummert and others in the area. He later worked in the plastics industry in Macomb and Canton.

He spent 20 years working as a welder and shop maintenance man at LTD Industries in Lewistown until it closed in 2015. His experience and work ethic helped him to become a full-time employee at Caterpillar as a machinist in East Peoria, where he worked until his unexpected death.

He was a member of UAW Local 974.

With an easy going demeanor, he had many friends. He always tried to help people if he could. His early death seems so surreal, and has left an irreparable void in the family and community.

Graveside services were held Monday at Summum Cemetery in Summum with Pastor Matthew Thiner officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Condolences may be sent to www.shawgomemorialhome.org.
