She was born April 19, 1947, in Decatur, a daughter of Eldo Lee and Iris Abbott Coffman. She married Gary “Ike” Mathis on July 27, 1968, in Stonington. He preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 2017.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Andrew Allen Mathis; one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Mathis; one grandson, Clayton Ward; two brothers, Terry Lee Coffman and Clinton Patrick Coffman; and one special friend, Ronald Daring.
Surviving are two sons, Luke (and Sadie) Mathis of Divernon and Josh Mathis of Rushville; two daughters, Beth (and David Hobrock) Oeser of Beardstown and Lori (and Matt) Prather of Rushville; one brother, Christopher (and Ronnette) Coffman; two sisters, Julie Coffman and Anina (and Mike) Sittenauer; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Blue Mound High School with the class of 1965. She received her LPN Certificate in 1976 and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Spoon River College in 1990. She worked as an LPN for several years at Snyder-Vaughn Haven Nursing Home and later as an RN at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb from 1990-2012.
She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
A private graveside service was held Tuesday at the Browning Cemetery in Browning with Father Adam Stimpson officiating. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
