Ronald S. Daring, 79, of Rushville, died at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 1995, at the Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

He was born June 20, 1915, in Portland, Ore., the son of the late Ernest E. and Laura Myrtle (Seward) Daring. Surviving are several cousins; and friends Gary and Melissa Mathis, with whom he lived.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister.

He was a lens grinder at American Optical, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service and also at a dental laboratory, all in West Palm Beach, Fla. He served in the Army during WW II from July 9, 1941 until Oct. 30, 1944. He was a member of the Schuyler American Legion Post #4, Disabled Veterans in Peoria, and the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church near Astoria. He was an avid weather observer and attended the Schuyler County Senior Citizens Center.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville with Elder Charles E. Linton officiating. Burial was in the Browning Cemetery at Browning. Military rites were conducted by Schuyler American Legion Post #4.
