He was born Aug. 18, 1952, in Macomb, the son of Whitney and Mary Ellen Hickle Mercer. He married Anita Bollinger on Nov. 11, 1974, in Browning. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Josh Mercer, Adam (and Dawn) Mercer and Brian (and Amy) Mercer, all of Vermont; his mother, Mary Ellen Farwell of Astoria; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Whitney Mercer; and one sister, Jeanette Walters.
He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 30 years. He also was owner and operator of Mercer’s on Main Bowling Center in Vermont, operating it since 2010.
Services were held Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery.
