Geraldine MalottGeraldine Malott, 79, of Astoria died at 8:40 a.m. May 10, 2015, at Snyders Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

She was born Oct. 22, 1935, in Tamaroa, a daughter of Thaddeus and Martha Bednarkiewcz Zielinski. She married Frank Edward Piotrowski Sr. on May 15, 1954, in Tamaroa. He preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1983. She then married Harold Malott on Dec. 22, 1984, in Pinckneyville. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Stephen Piotrowski of Tamaroa; two daughters, Julia (and Raymond) Bathon of Pinckneyville and Deborah (and Steven) Kellerman of Tamaroa; two stepdaughters, Teresa (and Scott) Burget and Beverly (and Gary) Taylor, both of Rushville; one sister, Shirley (and Edward) Walker of Sparta; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Frank Edward Piotrowski Jr.; one brother, Alexander Zielinski; and two sisters, Leona Molitor and Josephine Majewski.

She was a housewife. She also worked at Mallory in Pinckneyville and for Blue Bell Packing House in Duquoin. She later became a registered nurse and was Director of Nursing at Pinckneyville Community Hospital’s Skilled Care Unit.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tamaroa and the Catholic Daughters of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Rushville for the last 20 years.

Services are to be announced at Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Tamaroa.
