Robert McCormick, 85, of Springfield died Oct. 2, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 15, 1927, in Vermont, the son of Arthur R. and Nellie H. Carithers McCormick. He married Melba L. Easley. He later married Barbara Kidd in 1983 in Springfield.
Surviving are six children, Dave (and Ellen) McCormick of St. Louis, Mo., Becky McCormick (and Rich Cummings) and Sue (and Chuck) Compton, both of Atlanta, Ga., Dan (and Sue) McCormick and Lance (and Lisa) Kidd, both of Springfield and Steve Kidd of Loami; one sister, Polly Wherley of Bloomington; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Babe and Sis.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in World War II.
He worked in the farming industry most of his life.
Services were held Oct. 9 at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home in Springfield with Pastor Mark Gifford officiating. Burial was in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
