She was born Oct. 16, 1915, in Isabel Township in Fulton County, a daughter of Thomas E. and Grace Long Howe. She married William L. Merrill on Dec. 22, 1935, in Astoria. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 2008.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, four sisters and three brothers.
Surviving are two daughters, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker. She also served as an election judge for 40 years.
She was a member of Sunshine Club of Astoria and attended Astoria Christian Church.
Private services have been held. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
