William L. Merrill, 93, of Astoria died at 1 a.m. Dec. 12, 2008, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born Nov. 22, 1915, in Astoria, the son of William O. and Margaret Lowe Merrill. He married Onilee Howe on Dec. 22, 1935, in Astoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one daughter.
He farmed his entire life on the family farm which has been in the family since 1824.
He was a member of Astoria Lions Club, where he served as treasurer for many years.
He attended Astoria Christian Church.
Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Gary Sheets officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
