Mrs. Margaret Merrill Dies Thursday After Lengthy Illness

Mrs. Margaret Ann “Peggy” Merrill, 84, a lifelong resident of this area, died early Thursday morning at her home east of town. She had been confined to her home since she fell about three years ago and fractured a hip.

Born on May 10, 1879 in Astoria, she was a daughter of William and Rebecca Parrish Lowe. She was married to W. O. Merrill on March 18, 1900.

She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church and a member of the Ever Ready Sunday School Class for many years.

Surviving is her husband, one son, William L. Merrill of Astoria, and two granddaughters. One daughter, one granddaughter, four brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon in the Evangelical United Brethren church with the Rev. J. H. Ruberg officiating. Burial was in the Astoria cemetery.
