SHIRLEY A. (LAFARY) MANUEL

Shirley Manuel

Shirley A. Manuel, 79, of Smithfield died at 9:50 a.m. Dec. 2, 2010, at her home.

She was born July 16, 1931, in Bernadotte Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Clair D. and Ina I. Chenoweth Lafary. She married Glen G. Manuel on June 19, 1950, in Peoria. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Greg (and Sue) Manuel of Smithfield; one daughter, Marcia (and Don) Proper of Canton; three brothers, Clair L. (and Nancy) Lafary and Charles (and Sharon) Lafary, both of Cuba, and John L. (and Gloria) Lafary of Smithfield; three sisters, Virginia Wilson and Thelma (and Harold) Miller, both of Smithfield, and Wilma Ross of Swayzee, Ind.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one infant sister.

She worked over 25 years as a bookkeeper for Fred Palin and Day and Palin IGA stores.

She was an active member of Brock United Methodist Church in Smithfield.

She was a volunteer at Fulton County Health Department and HEA.

Services were held Monday at her church with Reverend Ardith Corsaw officiating. Burial was in Baughman Cemetery at rural Smithfield. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba was in charge of arrangements.
