She was born in Canton, the daughter of Glen and Shirley Manuel. She married Don Proper in 1976. He survives.
Also surviving are two children, Cole (and Michaela) Proper of Omaha, Neb., and Kyle (and Rachel) Proper of Pekin; one brother, Greg (and Sue) Manuel of Smithfield; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She worked at Spoon River Electric for 25 years, retiring in 2013.
Funeral services were held at Brock United Methodist Church in Smithfield with Pastor Ellen Dodd officiating. Graveside services followed at Baughman Cemetery in Smithfield. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Illinois Cancer Care Foundation or the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
