James "Jim" MummertJames Taylor "Jim" Mummert, 57, of Riverside, Calif., died Friday, April 23, 2004, at his home.

He was born March 15, 1947, in Beardstown, a son a Charles DeVere and MaryBelle Robertson Mummert. He married Martie Jane Henard on June 30, 1973, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, James Mummert and Jeffrey Mummert; and one daughter, Melissa Mummert, all of Riverside; and two brothers, Robert (and Loretta) Mummert of Astoria, and Jon (and Cindy) Mummert of Browning.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He graduated from Astoria High School in 1965. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1969 with a degree in accounting. He worked for Ernst and Ernst in Springfield from 1969-1984. He worked for Ernst N. Whinney in California in 1984 and for Western Financial Savings Bank in Irvine, Calif., for six years. At the time of his death, he had been employed by the County of San Bernardino in California for 13 years.

He was a member of Astoria Christian Church and the Riverside Optimist Club. He was active in his children's education, serving on the PTA and School Site Council Boards, and in various school activities. He was involved in youth sports organizations as a coach.

Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Astoria Christian Church with Gary Sheets officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery with military rites to be conducted by Astoria American Legion Post #25.
