MURIEL A. (WHITE) RHOADES MERCER

Muriel Mercer

Muriel A. Mercer, 80, of Vermont, formerly of Delavan, died at 6:55 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002, at Astoria Manor in Astoria.

She was born Jan. 13, 1922, in Morgantown, Ky., a daughter of Hobart and Donna Abner White. She married Leonard Rhoades on July 1, 1941. He died April 2, 1970. She later married Whitney Mercer on March 13, 1971, in Vermont. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Jerry Rhoades of Vermont; one daughter, Betty (and Charles) Holmes of Delavan; one stepson, Bruce (and Anita) Mercer of Vermont; one stepdaughter, Jeanette Walters of Astoria; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one step-greatgrandchild; four brothers, Earl (and Vivian) White of Tremont, Royce (and Joan) White of Metamora, Huey (and Arlene) White of Pekin and Raymond (and Margaret) White of Vermont; and four sisters, Pearl Goeken of Hopedale, Lottie Paterson of Lincoln, Rose Meisner of Manito and Gertrude (and Wesley) Ragland of Hopedale.

One daughter, Nancy Bennett; one grandson; and one brother preceded her in death.

She worked at the former Morton Pottery in Morton for many years.

Services were held Tuesday at Davis Mortuary in Hopedale with Rev. Michael Fender officiating. Burial was in Orendorff Cemetery in rural Hopedale.
