Ila Mercer

Ila Mercer, 93, of Lewistown, formerly of Ipava, died at 7:18 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 1998, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born March 13, 1905, in Pleasant Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Owen and Calla Huff Onion. She married Clifford I. Mercer on Dec. 10, 1925, in Springfield. He died Dec. 9, 1988. She also was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Mercer Sr., and one sister.

Surviving are one sister, Lena Hammond of Ipava; one grandson, Ronald Mercer Jr. and one granddaughter, Pamela Swing, both of San Antonio, Texas; and five great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Ipava Christian Church, where services were held Saturday with Rev. Lester Beaman officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to her church or the Spoon River Hospice.
