Keith Mummert

Keith L. Mummert, 83, of Havana died at 4:25 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at Morton Terrace Nursing Home in Morton.

He was born July 14, 1914, in Astoria, the son of Emmanuel C. and Della D. Markley Mummert. He married Louise Dean on June 15, 1939, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Kay Curless of Astoria; one son, David Mummert of Galesburg; two sisters, Hazel Shields of Rushville and June Martin of Roodhouse; and three grandchildren.

A member of Illinois Farm Bureau, he was a farmer. A member of Illinois Retired Teachers Association, he also was a rural schoolteacher for six years. He was instrumental in getting rural telephone exchange to the Summum area.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church of Havana or to the American Diabetes Association.
