Former Astoria Resident Dies In Beardstown

Mrs. Dolly Mooney, wife of W. G. Mooney of Beardstown, died at 5:40 o’clock Sept. 4th at Schmitt Memorial hospital in that city.

She had been in failing health the past two years. She entered the hospital August 21 when her condition became critical.

Mrs. Mooney was born in Astoria, the only child of Andrew and Sarah Mummert, both deceased.

She was married to W. Guy Mooney on Jan. 30, 1902.

It was in October, 1909 that Mr. and Mrs. Mooney moved to Beardstown. Except for a few years they have continued to live in that city.

Mrs. Mooney first became ill two years ago when they lived in their newly built home at Matanza Beach near Havana, when she suffered a stroke. Anxious to return to Beardstown the Mooneys had a new home constructed and moved there last summer.

She is survived by her husband, W. G. Mooney, by her stepmother, Mrs. Laura McClelland Mummert of Quincy and by one sister-in-law Mrs. J. C. Griffith of Bushnell.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 o’clock Thursday afternoon at Cline’s Funeral Home, Beardstown. The Rev. Kenneth Knudsen, pastor of the First Lutheran church, officiated. Interment in the Memorial Mausoleum in Astoria.
