ANDREW JACKSON MILLER

Rites Held For A. J. Miller Tuesday

Andrew Jackson Miller, son of Andrew and Elizabeth Miller was born near Hanover, York County, Pa., on August 8th, 1865, and passed away at his home between Astoria and Vermont Monday evening, March 24, 1930, aged 64 years, 7 months and 16 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Viola Leighty February 23, 1898. To this union was born six children, three dying in infancy. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and three sons: Harry L. of Astoria, Ill., Henry A., of Los Angeles, Calif., and Ralph C. of San Francisco, Calif.; one brother, Jacob D. of Browning; three sisters, Sallie Lucabaugh, Lizzie Rumble and Martha Krout, all of Astoria, Ill. Also a host of other relatives and friends.

In the spring of 1868 his father with his family came to Illinois, locating on a farm in Schuyler county near Rushville, and in 1876 they moved to Fulton county one mile south of Astoria where he grew to manhood.

After his marriage he resided on a farm one mile southeast of Astoria until 1905 when he moved to his final home.

Less than a year ago Bro. Miller united with the Old German Baptist church and has lived a consistent life to the end.

His affliction was of several years duration, in the past year he submitted to two major operations for ulcer of the stomach from which he seemed to recover slowly, however, the fore part of this winter he gained in weight and strength. His family and friends were hopeful that he would regain his normal health again.

In the past few weeks other complications set in and despite the fact of the best medical skill and loving care we could not keep him with us. For on Monday evening, at 9:15 his spirit quietly took its flight to God who gave it. We trust our loss is his eternal gain.

Mr. Miller was a kind and loving husband and father; an obliging neighbor; always happiest when at home with his family. He will be greatly missed in his home, the community and in the church.

Funeral services were held at his late home Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Vermont cemetery.
