Aged Woman Dies

Mrs. C. P. McDonald of Near Adair Sister of Manford Litchfield and Mrs. E. Switzer of Astoria.

Mrs. Martha McDonald, widow of C. P. McDonald, died Sunday at her home near Adair, aged 74 years, 11 months and 5 days.

The deceased was born near Astoria Feb. 20, 1845 and was united in marriage to John Switzer in 1866 and to them were born one son, Chauncy Switzer, who died March 15, 1913. Her husband died Dec. 24, 1868.

She was again married Oct. 7, 1875, her second husband being C. P. McDonald. To this union four children were born, namely: Fred of Bushnell, John at home, Manford of Adair, Kline of Zimmerman, Minn.; there were also the following stepchildren, Alex of Bellaire, Kans., William of Pawnee City, Nebr., Uriah and Isaac of Adair, Perry of Macomb, Mrs. Anna Haffner, Adair, Mrs. Orin Parkhurst, Moline, also a brother, Manford Litchfield, Astoria and two sisters, Mrs. Emily Switzer of Astoria and Mrs. Ollie Aten of Adair.

At the age of 15 she united with the United Brethren church and lived a faithful and conscientious life. She was held in high esteem by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Pilot Grove church conducted by Rev. J. B. Stubblefield. Interment in Miner cemetery.
