ABRAM MARKLEY SR.

Abe Markley

SUMMUM — In answer to a telegram announcing the dangerous illness of his father, little Abe Markley started Thursday last for Salem Springs, Ark. On Saturday word came to us of his death, which occured on Thursday. Uncle Abe, as he is remembered, was a well known citizen of Kerton Tp., where he spent his early life logging and rafting on the Illinois and Mississippi. He was a powerful man physically, a great hunter in early pioneer days, a stalwart republican, a successful farmer, an earnest and fearless man. He moved from Kerton Tp. to Woodland some twenty-five years ago and to Arkansas some five years ago. He leaves a wife and six children, all married; Little Abe and Charlie in this state; Dave, Huldah, Lettie and Lillie in Arkansas. Thus another pioneer has gone over to the majority.
