She was born May 9, 1951, in Beardstown, the daughter of Hubert and Louisa Vollmer Cripe. She married Mike Lightle on Aug. 27, 1977, in Pittsfield. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Aaron (and Pam) Lightle of Hannibal, Mo., and Matthew (and Rachel) Lightle of Springfield; one brother, Roy (and Virginia) Cripe of Downers Grove; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She graduated from VIT High School near Vermont in 1969. She went on to attend Western Illinois University, where she majored in music and minored in English. She graduated from WIU with a bachelors degree in 1974. Soon after, she began her first and only teaching job at the Griggsville Perry School District, where she retired from after 36 years.
She was a member of Pittsfield First Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Michael TenEyck officiating. Burial will follow at Pittsfield West Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to an education fund for her grandchildren.
