Margaret LueckMargaret Lucille Stevens Lueck, 89, of Iliff, Neb., died Sept. 4, 2014, in Sterling, Colo.

She was born on a farm north of Grant, Neb. This farm was the last homestead filed in Perkins County. She married Lawrence “Larry” Lueck on April 8, 1944. He preceded her in death in March, 1969.

Larry and Margaret had five children: Rhonda (and Bill) Brown of Mesa, Ariz., Steven (and Elizabeth) of Bisbee, Ariz., Jim (and Peggy) of Iliff, Carroll of Denver, Colo., and Rod (and Lisa) of Morrison, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is the aunt of Tom Stevens, Stephanie Mann, Tim Stevens and the late Karen Schisler, all of Astoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hal and Thelma Stevens; one sister, Rhonda; and two brothers, Ken and Gerald.

She attended a rural school, “Nubbins Run” for eight years and graduated from Perkins County High School in 1942. She taught in rural schools for two years.

When her husband passed away, she and the boys stayed on the farm until Jim and Peggy were married and Rod graduated from high school. She moved to Iliff in 1974. After Larry’s death, she worked as a bookkeeper at Ceres Land Company, the Iliff School, American Fertilizer and Iliff Head Start.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Sterling. She held various offices in the church and the Iliff community.

Services were held Tuesday at First Christian Church with Pastor Lew Champ officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
