Karen SchislerKaren K. Schisler, 47, of Astoria died at 5:52 a.m. March 30, 2012, at Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria.

She was born Jan. 29, 1965, in St. Louis, Mo., a daughter of Kenneth Keith and Mary Ann Murphy Stevens. She married Wendell D. Schisler on Sept. 28, 1985, in Astoria. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Kody Schisler of Peoria; one stepson, Chad Schisler of Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif.; two brothers, Tom (and Ellen) Stevens and Tim (and Jennifer) Stevens, both of Astoria; and one sister, Stephanie (and John) Mann of Astoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was an owner of K.K. Stevens Publishing Company and an integral part of the business for nearly 30 years. She grew up in the business and developed an interest in the mailing operations from the beginning. She managed the mailing and shipping operations and was a recognized expert in periodical and bulk mailings by her customers, her peers and by countless personnel throughout the U.S. Postal Service. Her vast knowledge and expertise of the postal regulations often saved clients hundreds or thousands of dollars in postage.

Services were held Tuesday at Astoria United Methodist Church with Reverend Robert Einhouse officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Astoria Rescue Squad or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
