Services Held Sept. 8 For Thelma Stevens

Funeral services for Thelma Iva Stevens, 75, were held Tuesday, Sept. 8, in the United Methodist Church in Grant, Nebr. Rev. Marion Knoell officiated.

Mrs. Stevens was born June 11, 1895 at Edholm, Nebr., a daughter of Solomon and Lucy Streeter. She passed away Sept. 5 at Denver, Colo.

She graduated from David City High School in 1915 and in the fall began teaching in Perkins County. On April 14, 1917, she was married to Harry Otto Stevens who preceded her in death in 1959.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald Stevens of Dwight, Ill., Kenneth Keith Stevens of Astoria, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Lueck of Illiff, Colo.; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda, who died in infancy, two brothers, Alex and Lester, and one sister, Daisy.

In 1944 Mrs. Stevens returned to teaching, retiring in 1960. She lived in Madrid, Nebr., for a few years, but had spent the past four years at Sunset Haven.

A member of the Madrid Methodist Church, Mrs. Stevens transferred her membership to the Grant Church, receiving her 50-year membership pin in 1967. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Women’s Society of Christian Service and the Methodist Circle, E.H.M. and H.H.M. Extension Clubs of Grant, the American Legion Auxiliary of Astoria, Ill., and the Madrid Birthday Club.

Mrs. Stevens was an artist with a crochet hook, the finished items of her handiwork treasured by her family and friends who were the chief recipients.

Interment was in the cemetery at Grant, Nebr.

Mrs. Stevens had spent several winters here with her son Mr. and Mrs. K. K. Stevens and family and will be remembered by many in this area.

Thelma Stevens Dies In Hospital

Mrs. Thelma Stevens of Grant, Nebr., died Saturday afternoon in a hospital in Denver, Colo., from injuries sustained in a car wreck in July.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth K. Stevens of Astoria and Gerald Stevens of Dwight; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Lueck of Iliff, Colo.; and several grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Grant, Nebr. with burial also at Grant.
