Vivian LangilleVivian Cooper Langille, 92, died July 14, 2011, at Beaumont Nursing Home in Northbridge, Ma., from complications after a stroke.

She was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Astoria, the daughter of David and Helen Merrill Cooper. She married Vernon Langille in 1951. He preceded her in death in November, 2000.

Surviving are one son, David (and Lorrie) Langille of Northbridge; one brother, Robert (and JoAnn) Cooper of Astoria; one niece, Roberta Tomlinson of Cuba; one cousin, Margaret Steinwald of Libertyville; and one sister-in-law, Edith (Langille) and her husband Dr. Thomas Baldwin of Beaver Falls, Pa.; and one grandchild.

She graduated from MacMurray College in 1941. She taught business subjects in several Illinois high schools before her marriage.

With her husband and son, Vivian moved to Rome, Italy, and traveled extensively in Europe before returning to the states to settle in Hudson, Ohio, where she lived for more than 35 years.

A private service will be held in Astoria at a later date. Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
