VeteranMillard Litchfield Dies In Arizona

Millard F. Litchfield, 93, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of this area, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 1988, at the Chula Vista Nursing Home in Mesa.

He was born May 11, 1895, in Astoria, a son of Manford and Adelaide (Bryan) Litchfield. He married Hazel L. Patrie on April 1, 1920, in Canton. She died on Dec. 1, 1979.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lee (Bonnie) Paisley of Mesa, Ariz., and Mrs. Betty Perry of Galesburg; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Also preceding Mr. Litchfield in death were one great-grandchild; three brothers, Dewey, Clarence and Frank; and two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Ball and Miss Sabina Litchfield.

Mr. Litchfield was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War I and a member of the World War I Barracks. He was a retired farmer and former member of the American Legion. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mesa.

Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb with Rev. James Stovall officiating. Military rites were conducted by American Legion Post #6. Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion baseball team.
