Mrs. Bessie Ball Dies At 81

Mrs. Bessie Ball, 81, of 502 E. Jefferson St., Macomb, died at 10:20 p.m. Thursday at McDonough District Hospital. She had been in poor health the past three months.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Clugston Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Clyde Leslie officiated and burial was in Greenwood Cemetery at Canton.

Mrs. Ball was born Feb. 15, 1885 at Astoria, the daughter of Manford and Adelaide Bryan Litchfield. She resided in Astoria until 1911 when she moved to Canton. She moved from there to Peoria in 1922 and in 1960 moved to Macomb where she has since resided.

She taught school for 15 years and was employed at Block & Kuhl in Peoria for 35 years. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, the Tri-State Lodge, Carson, Pirie, Scott Woman's Club and the Carson, Pirie, Scott Seniority Club.

She married James Short June 20, 1910. He died in 1918. On Jan. 20, 1921 she married Clarence Ball. He died in 1947.

Surviving are two brothers, Millard Litchfield of Macomb, and Dewey Litchfield, RR 3, Macomb, and a sister, Miss Sabina Litchfield of Macomb. Two brothers, Frank Earl Litchfield and the Rev. Clarence A. Litchfield are deceased.
