Cyril KochCyril Edward Koch, 85, of Rushville died at 5:52 a.m. March 19, 2017, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born Dec. 4, 1931, in Mount Sterling, a son of Cyril and Lula Yakle Koch. He married Martha Cook on June 7, 1951, in Mount Sterling. She preceded him in death in 1996. Arlene Rogers-Koch was his companion for 20 years. She preceded him in death on July 18, 1997.

He also was preceded in death by one son, Gerald Richard “Gerry” Koch; two brothers, Gerald Koch and William Koch; and four sisters, Lula May Koch, Laura Volk, Norma Ward and Marge Grist.

Surviving are four sons, Cyril Frederick (and Merana) Koch of Baja, Mexico, Dennis Lee “Denny” (and Beth) Koch of Utica, N.Y., and Billy Joedward (and Mary) Koch and David Allen Koch, both of Rushville; three daughters, Sheila Sue Devening of Waco, Texas, Lesa Kathryn (and Leroy) Ritter of Monticello, Ind., and Jacquelin Louise (and Mike) Ordiway of Delphi, Ind.; one brother, Richard (and Judy) Koch of Morton; one sister, Donna Stephens of Timewell; 21 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

He owned and operated Koch’s Termite and Pest Control for years. In his younger days, he owned and raced harness horses.

Funeral services were held Monday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with his son, Fred Koch, officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
