Russel Kennedy

Russel Wayne Kennedy, 89, of Rushville died at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Snyders Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

He was born May 13, 1915, in Cooperstown, a son of James and Margaret Bunfil Kennedy. He married Marcella Curtis on Feb. 19, 1936, in Macomb. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Barbara (and Phillip) Haney of Vermont; his nephew, Gary Kennedy of Camden, whom he raised; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, a nephew whom he raised, Terry Kennedy, four brothers and one sister.

He farmed in the Camden area, where he and his wife raised and showed society horses and later quarter horses. He retired in March 1976.

He was a member of Camden Lodge 648 for more than 50 years.

He was a member of Camden United Methodist Church.

Services were held Thursday at Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville with Rev. Ron Cox officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to his church or Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.
