He was born June 23, 1952, in Beardstown, a son of Robert and Betty Green Harris. He married Donalene Seward on Sept. 18, 1976, in Ipava. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Haven (and Jayson) Baudino of Table Grove; and two boys who were like grandsons to him, Tommy and Donnie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Vicki Elgin; and one brother, Robert Allen Harris.
He was a graduate of Spoon River College. He then served as the secretary/treasurer of Bader and Company Grain Elevator for 22 and one-half years. He went on to work at the Vermont State Bank, where he was the head loan officer for 11 years. Since 2003, he worked at the Table Grove State Bank, where he was vice president, a loan officer and served on the bank’s board. He also was a one-third owner of Spoon River Auction Company and was involved for over 25 years. He served for 10 years as a Vermont Township Trustee. He was a member of the Astoria Lions Club and the Vermont Masonic Lodge #116.
He attended Vermont Methodist Church where he served on the Pastor Parish Committee and was the Church Auditor for 12 years. He most recently attended The Crossing in Macomb.
Services were held Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Minister David Haney officiating. A masonic service was provided by The Vermont Masonic Lodge #116. Burial was in the Vermont Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Vermont Fire and Rescue Squad or the Vermont Memorial Ballpark.
