Mary Hamm

Mary HammMary Lois Hamm, 90, of Browning died Sept. 10, 2018, at Heritage Health in Beardstown.

She was born Nov. 21, 1927, in Sheldons Grove, a daughter of Willis “Gabby” and Doris Lane Hamm. She married Petie “Pete” Hamm Jr. on March 15, 1947, in Virginia. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2018.

She also was preceded in death by one infant granddaughter, Barbara Ann Hamm; four sisters, Dolores Hamm, Ruth Smith Bechard, Bette Lybarger and Linda Pierson; and four brothers, Richard, Charles, Roger and John Hamm.

Surviving are two sons, Michael “Mike” (and Ann) Hamm of Tucson, Ariz., and Virgil (and Marsha) Hamm of Browning; one daughter, Sheila (and Richard) Krider of Vermont; one brother, Robert “Bob” Hamm of Browning; one sister, Clara June Hamm Little of Beardstown; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She attended Browning School and was a member of Browning United Methodist Church. She worked at Mickelberry Packing Company in Rushville prior to her marriage. Lois and her husband owned and operated Hamm’s Fish Market in Browning for many years.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Browning Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation. Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
