Florence HaleFlorence Evelyn Hale, 89, of rural Camden died at 9:35 a.m. Oct. 15, 2013, at her home.

She was born April 21, 1924, in Camden Township, Schuyler County, a daughter of Benjamin F. and Hannah M. Tweedell McClelland. She married Lloyd H. Hale on Dec. 20, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Donna Skiles of Normal and Doris “Dee” Agans of Camden; one brother, Richard (and Carol) McClelland of Peoria; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Leigh Ann Bollinger; two brothers, Jim McClelland and Robert Warren McClelland; and three sisters, Pauline Greene and Aileen and Eileen McClelland.

A 1940 graduate of Camden High School, she first worked at Cudahy Packing Company and as a sales clerk at JC Penney, both in Rushville. She also was a homemaker and farm wife.

She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and a long-time volunteer with RSVP Program and Schuyler Jail Museum and Genealogical Center in Rushville.

Services were held Saturday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Reverend John E. Sowers officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Live Nativity Program, Hope Blooms, Schuyler Jail Museum and Genealogical Center or Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.
