Myron “Bud” Hopping, 83, of Mackinaw died Dec. 26, 2009, at his home.

He was born March 1, 1926, in Ipava, the son of Thomas Henry and Dorothy Dickinson Hopping. He married Erma D. Dotson. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Alan (and Sue) Hopping of Burlington, Wis., and Darin (and Chris) Hopping of Lake City, Fla.; five daughters, Janis (and Tom) Lee of Springfield, Mo., Judy (and Richard) Broussard of Travelers Rest, S.C., Sharon Luncsford of Osprey, Fla., Jody (and Mike) Patton of Tuscola and Diane (and Ed) Emig of White Bear, Minn.; one stepson, Rick (and Sarah) Baker of Mackinaw; one stepdaughter, Bev Schmidgall of Morton; one sister, Anna Ratcliff of Astoria; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Phillip Hopping and Doug Hopping; and one stepson, Brian.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a welder at ASARCO in Trivoli.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Union Chapel Cemetery in Astoria with Gary Sheets officiating. Military rites will be provided by Astoria American Legion Post #25. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Pekin Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses or the donor’s choice.
