Bruce HesterBruce A. Hester, 81, of Huntsville died at 6:17 a.m. Dec. 27, 2009, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born March 27, 1928, in Huntsville Township, Schuyler County, a son of Maurice and Gladys Grafton Hester. He married Shirley Anne Fetch on Nov. 24, 1948, in Camden. She preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 2005.

He also was preceded in death by two brothers, William Hester and Charles Scott Hester.

Surviving are one son, David (and Rhonda) Hester of Huntsville; one daughter, Beth Anne (and Scott) Graves of Camp Point; three sisters, Mary Beth (and Harold) Greene of LaPrairie, Joyce Reeder of Rushville and Margaret Rose “Peggy” (and Larry) Worthey of Glen Carbon; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army Korean Conflict veteran.

He farmed his entire life in Schuyler County.

He was a member of Camden United Methodist Church, 50-year member of Camden Masonic Lodge #648, Plymouth American Legion and past director of Schuyler-Brown Farmers Service and former trustee for Huntsville Township.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Joyce Farwell officiating. Burial will follow in Huntsville Cemetery with military rites.
